Important changes to be made with all Altered Awareness Network sites!

This is just a heads up to let people know that there will eventually be a few changes with all sites and channels under the AA banner.

At present, this covers the TdN site, and the TdN, Paranormal and Dark Place channels. In the future, this will expand to Storm Paranormal, the AA blog site and a Dark Place website, with the possibility of adding an AA chat room.

The first wave of changes will essentially be merging all AA stuff into one account, though redirecting all the domains as aliases, which means that if you send something to @Theria ns.net, it'll be sent to the same account as if you sent it to any other address attached to the AA account. However, I'll be setting up the account in such a way in that although they all go to the same account, they'll have tags saying where they were sent to.

Admittedly, this generally won't make much of a difference to your emailing experience overall, unless you're planning on upgrading your account to the (planned) Gold Premium account, which includes an email address. However, you may occasionally get mailings from an @alteredawareness.net email, depending on if I can nail the setup correctly or not. Either way though, all staff and users who get email accounts will be going through a single account, so if you support any AANet site, you'll get an @alteredawareness.net email, though there will be instructions on how to get the address for the site you applied for an account upgrade with.

All this said however, I'm not expecting all of this to start to be properly implemented until around August to October, though the email stuff will be sorted before then, though a test run is needed. As for the blogs off of the AANet domain, they should be around as soon as is feasible. There will also be the option to purchase subdomains and attach them to your account in the future, as well as being able to use proper domains, but that may also come at the same time as the emails are offered, which is about the time TdN will have moved to new software.

Due to unanticipated changes*, the TdN Mail will still be active, and no AA emails (beyond staff ones) will be created at this time.


*Essentially, all new Google Apps accounts now have a max of 10 users before switching to paid, though I hadn't realised this was the case till I looked just now. All current Google Apps accounts are unaffected by this however.
